Meet Renee - An EMDR Certified Counselor for trauma, PTSD, and anxiety in Tigard, OR.

EMDR therapy for adults near Portland and online across Oregon.

Hi, I’m Renee.

You’re already dealing with enough, so I do my best to make our counseling sessions both effective and welcoming. I do this with a down-to-earth style, sincere interest and genuine warmth. I also do this by getting trained in a variety of proven methods so that we aren’t just talking but getting to the root of the issue!

The primary method I use is a method called EMDR. Check out my EMDR page to find out more. With this method, I generally take the first session to understand you and your background and collaborate with you on goals. Then we spend our time practicing techniques you can use to help yourself regulate your emotions. And finally, we get to the root of the issue for long-term healing and change with the reprocessing stage of EMDR which includes following a light with your eyes and holding the traumatic or anxiety-provoking memory in mind while doing so. As outlandish as this may seem, study after study has proven EMDR’s effectiveness. And that’s why I use it!

I also use quite a bit of IFS, Accelerated Resolution Therapy, DBT, CBT and some somatic techniques.

In my sessions I love to explain what we’re doing and why, collaborate on how to address your concern and also just connect with you. I am empathetic but speak the truth. If you’re interested in learning more, schedule a free 10 minute phone call consultation. I look forward to speaking with you.

Training and Education

  • E.M.D.R. (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). I’m an EMDRIA Certified EMDR clinician. I took the basic EMDR training and several advanced level EMDR courses including “EMDR Therapy with OCD, Panic Disorders and Phobias” as well as “Powerful EMDR Techniques” and “EMDR 2.0” . These classes, along with a significant required number of consultations for EMDR and experience hours using the modality all led to my ability to become certified in EMDR.

I.F.S. (Internal Family Systems Theory). I took the official Internal Family Systems Level 1 training which requires multiple weekends of training and I continue to receive additional training in the modality.
